‘Tis be the Season to Fall in Love

“It’s fall”, I said, more to myself, but loud enough for the hubby to hear, as I adjusted my saree pleats in the car. We were going to our temple this Sunday. I wanted him to take a few photos of mine and hence, was slowly prepping him for the inevitable.
“That’s wrong”, he said.
“Why? Because we are here, in Goa, in India?”
“It would be wrong anywhere in the world”
“Oh c’mon, world again”. He and I spend a large portion of our time discussing matters at large. The more actual moments of our life? Well, we are winging it through.
“It is ‘You will fall’ or Careful! Don’t fall”. Or your latest obsession, Saree ka fall . There is no “it’s fall”. There can even be a Fail , but not what you said.”
That’s when I got what he meant. “Arre, Being grammar corrector is my forte…This fall is season. Autumn”
He was dumbstruck as I chuckled. He let the corrector part slide.
“Oh! since when do you hello the seasons? and that too , a non-existent season for us here?”
I ignored this hypothetical question.
“I want you to please stop the car and click my picture.” I requested.
“What? Here , this is almost wilderness?”
“It’s perfect. Fall colours”
” Click picture of the saree fall? No way”
“Arre, picture of me with the fall foliage. Please.”
We got off the car. I posed and he went down on bent knee.
” Please get my pallu and everything. Are my toes seen? Get the top of the trees. Is the backlight hindering?”
“It’s perfect. Even your cracked heels.” He cracked up.
I didn’t react. I would later, once he clicked the pic. Till then, I suffer. Oh! the things wives have to put with.
“I want the frame with the sky too, the top of trees, don’t chop me off. The tar road shouldn’t be seen. Should look like fall season”. I shot off instructions , while he shot me. What a tacky pun, that is!
He bent lower and I almost shouted, “Hey! careful. You may trip and fall”.
“I already have, years back”. said The Man.

My blushing pink cheeks added the much needed pop of colour to my fall-coloured photo.
